AWS Systems Engineer

Role description

The AWS System Engineer will own the execution of AWS infrastructure updates and patching, including the compute and storage services. This person will be a part of the team that will manage the integrity of the code that generate infrastructure (i.e., stack sets, modules) and for automating provisioning of infrastructure services (IaC). The ideal person can create infrastructure templates as code and implement automated deployment and provisioning processes in addition to identifying and diagnosing technical issues and incidents and managing infrastructure upgrades when needed. This person will also be supporting the SW releases and deployments of such with AWS/CloudFormation.

Job Duties:

·      Provide L1 & L2 support and configure updates to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) throughout the enterprise while identifying, recording, investigating, and diagnosing problems.

·      Create and maintain infrastructure templates as code (IaC) and SW releases/deployments using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible.

·      Implement automated deployment and provisioning processes for cloud resources using IaC, enabling efficient creation and management of environments.

·      Automate the configuration of servers and cloud resources to ensure they are aligned with best practices and security requirements.

·      Coordinate the creation and deployment of complex cloud resources, such as server clusters, virtual networks and cloud services in addition to managing and upgrading IaC making it easy to implement changes and ensure consistency across the environment.

·      Implement consistent security configurations and meet compliance standards using IaC, ensuring that the infrastructure is protected and compliant.

·      Perform automated testing of IaC templates to ensure resources are created correctly and maintained in a consistent state.

·      Determine underlying causes and prevent incident recurrences, develop workarounds or solutions for incidents and submit change requests to eliminate known problems.

·      Escalate to higher expertise levels when needed, integrating with change enablement, incident management, and configuration management.

·      Analyze historical data to proactively eliminate potential future incidents and identify users for active monitoring of problem resolution processes.


Education & Requirements:

·      Bachelor's degree is required

·      Bilingual in English/Spanish (written & verbal) is a must

·      5+ years of experience in Technology areas (Programming, IaC, Cloud Administration, etc.)

·      3+ years of experience as a AWS Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Cloud SysOps, or Cloud Architect

·      Strong experience with CloudFormation is required

·      Experience with Git based repositories


Plus:

·      Previous experience with Terraform and/or Jenkins is highly desired

·      Certification such as Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Developer Associate, or AWS SysOps Associate are highly preferred
